Postdoctoral Training in Prevention Research with Children

General Information: Arizona State University Psychology Department and the Program for Prevention Research invite applications for our NIHM-funded Post-doctoral training program in Prevention Research with Children. Research opportunities are available in prevention research methodology, research with ethnic minority children, children in poverty, children of divorce, bereaved children, the design, implementation and evaluation of preventive interventions and moving evidence based preventive interventions into real world treatment delivery settings. The Prevention Research Center (PRC) is part of the Arizona State University Psychology Department, and was established in 1984 as an NIMH funded Center to develop, evaluate, and disseminate prevention programs for children and families in high stress situations. Research at the PRC focuses on children and families experiencing three different stressors: parental divorce, poverty, and bereavement. AA/EOE

Academic Associate - Part Time Interviewers
Required Qualifications: 2 years experience in interviewing, public relations, sales, school or community programs. Effective communications skills. Evidence of strong organizational skills.
Desired Qualifications: Bilingual English/Spanish knowledge, B.S. in Soc Sci or related field, demonstrated knowledge of computers. Previous interviewing/recruiting exp.

General Information: Interviewing and/or recruiting for some projects will be done in Spanish. Part-time cyclical work. Paid for all work, including travel time and mileage. Will require local travel. Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and insurance required. Able to work evening and weekend hours, 10-18 hrs/wk. Faculty Research Associate/Project Director
Essential Functions: Manage a large research program that studies the long term follow-up of the Parent and Youth’s Study. The study will interview participating families who were originally recruited when their child was attending 7th grade in 2002/03. Projeact Director will coordinate/oversee all aspects fo data collection and management; train and supervise all interviewers/recruiters, undergraduate and graduate students; represent the project communicating and coordinating with school partners and the community advisory board. Additionally will prepare reports and study documentation as well as oversee IRB compliance.
Required Qualifications: Master’s degree in a relevant discipline such as Community, Clinical, Developmental, Counseling, Educational Psychology or Family Studies. Two years pos-Master’s relevant experience in research, field surveys and/or a data collection and data management. Evidence of effective communication and strong organizational skills.
Desired Qualifications: Experience working in applied research projects within schools, courts or community settings. Experience managing a project with large staff and multiple stakeholders. Supervision experience and experience in data collection with Latino populations, child and families. Background in prevention research and bilingual English/Spanish knowledge. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook/Access and database management.
General Information: This particular grant is funded by NIH. Salary is $45,000. A Background check is required per ABOR policy before employment. AA/EOE

Academic Associate PRN Pool – Child Care Worker
Essential Functions: Positions as childcare workers for school preventive intervention are now available. This position provides childcare services to families attending the prevention program implemented by the Prevention Research Center.
Required Qualifications: Must be 18 years of age or older. Demonstrated evidence of working well with children and under supervision.
Desired Qualifications: Bilingual Spanish/English knowledgeable
General Information: The position will be approximately 5-10 hours per week. Some positions will require travel to the Prevention Research site, usually a Valley school. The starting rate is $10.00 per hour. This position is considered safety/security sensitive and will include a fingerprint check. AA/EOE
